The AdC sought to analyse the significant increase in the prices of iron and steel products, in conjunction with restrictions to the supply of these products in Portugal.
For this reason, the AdC made an overview of the sector at a global, European and national scales, and assessed the evolution of the international prices of these products.
The AdC concluded that, despite the concerns raised by several parties, the share of imports of the steel industry in Portugal suggested external markets faced no barriers of access to the Portuguese market. In addition, the prices and/or terms of sales practiced in Portugal were strongly correlated with the developments in international markets.
