Notified on 9 July 2010, the present merger operation consists of the acquisition, by the undertaking American Sugar Holdings Inc ("American Sugar"), of exclusive control of Tate & Lyle PLC, by means of, in Portugal, the purchase of all the shareholdings in the undertakings Tate & Lyle Açúcares Portugal SA and Tate & Lyle Empreendimentos Portugal SGPS Lda (Tate & Lyle) and the exclusive rights to use the brand names and registered trademarks of Tate & Lyle " namely Sidul and Sores " in the distribution channels in Portugal.
