In February 2010, AdC completed the study on Consumer Mobility in the Electronic Communications Sector, analyzed between December 2008 and July 2009.
The object of the study is to characterize consumer mobility and the factors that condition it in the electronic communications sector in Portugal. In this context, the mobility of customers of the fixed telephone service, the mobile telephone service and the broadband Internet access service, as well as customers of bundled offers, is assessed. For this purpose, AdC collected information from operators and providers and promoted an online survey during the months of June and July 2009, with direct and hypothetical questions to consumers of electronic communications services.
Following the study, AdC recommends a set of measures aimed at acting on the identified mobility constraints, namely on research costs and switching costs (which include transaction costs, contractual costs, uncertainty costs, learning costs and costs of a psychological nature), seeking to promote greater competition in electronic communications markets.
