The AdC issued a Recommendation addressed to the Government on introducing regulations intended to allow the auctioning of television and multimedia rights of games of the First and Second Professional Football Leagues.
The Recommendation calls for the sale of television and multimedia rights to be carried out through three-yearly auctions, conducted by the Portuguese Professional Football League or any other organization that represents professional football clubs.
According to the Recommendation, auctions should comply with specific rules and procedures subject to the AdC’s approval, including rules to promote competition that guarantee the existence of at least two acquirers and prevent joint participation by companies operating in the distribution of those television and multimedia rights.
